All beginnings are small: With 30 employees, national system transports and direct transports within Germany, we started operations at our Dresden branch in 1992. “We saw potential in the region,” explains Philipp Strenge, Managing Partner of the Rieck Logistics Group. “But of course we didn’t know how everything would develop – the whole country was in a state of upheaval at the time.”
Nobody expected such a rapid success story: The old location in the city center was quickly filled to capacity. Rieck found a new home in the Ottendorf industrial estate in 1995 and started with a newly built 3,000 square meter forwarding facility. Eleven years later, another 4,000 square meters of warehouse space was added. Value-added services such as picking, packing and labeling or display construction are carried out here. European land transportation and international air and sea freight transport soon became part of the service portfolio.
"Dresden was dynamic right from the start: the demand for new services grew just as quickly as our space requirements."

Dynamics ...
The Dresden site is currently breaking one record after another: Whether 900 incoming consignments in spring 2021 or 150 tons of outgoing consignments in March this year. On average, 1,300 consignments are collected from or delivered to our customers every day with the 60 vehicles. And the trend is rising. And that means: “We need more space again,” laughs Branch Manager Stefan Zenker. For this reason, some consignments are currently being handled in the warehouse, but Rieck is looking for a larger site in the neighborhood.
... and consistency
Despite all the dynamism, the site also enjoys great stability: employees from the early days still strengthen the team with their expertise. A total of 50 trainees have successfully completed their training here, and the majority are still working for us today. “We are now a great team of 85 colleagues and I can only thank them for their extraordinary commitment and great team spirit,” Stefan Zenker sums up. As a small thank you, the 30th anniversary of the location was celebrated with our Dresden crew and their families at a big summer party.
They had good reason to celebrate (from left): Robert Rewicki (Forwarding Manager), Stefan Zenker (Branch Manager), Manuela Doltze (Assistant Branch Manager), Rico Pfeiffer (Mayor of Ottendorf-Okrilla), Detlef Helsing (Managing Director System Forwarding), Philipp Strenge (Managing Partner Rieck Logistics Group).
