Off to the Dolomites: That was the call in our employee app. Who would like to take part in the ‘Tour de Rieck 2025’ from Munich to the Sella Ronda in Italy? Perfectly organized with an elaborate route, hotel accommodation, a service support vehicle, a starter pack and Rieck cycling jerseys. The only requirement: at least 1,500 training kilometers in the saddle. Some were interested, and five cycling enthusiasts finally got together for the tour.
"It wasn't about speed or performance, but about working together."
René Fichtner, Niederlassungsleiter RFS Schönefeld
The start? In the pouring rain. “I’ve been doing this for seven years now – and I’ve never set off in the dry,” says Tour Captain René Fichtner dryly.
With gradients of around 15%, the team had quite a struggle. The descents then made the brake disks glow.
The heart of the tour: The Sella Ronda with 2,000 meters of altitude was also mastered with flying colors.
Always in the best company: Moritz Störr was there for the athletes everywhere with the service vehicle.
Wheels, rain and a rush of happiness
For three days, the team battled up and down the mountains – in torrential rain showers and bright sunshine, but always highly motivated. The service vehicle with driver Moritz Störr, project manager, ensured that they were safely accompanied – good humor and perfect care included. Fortunately, there were no breakdowns that required the use of the tools they had brought with them.
The bikers pedaled hard, true to the motto: “Together to the finish”. And everyone arrived here exhausted, but with a smile on their face and full of happiness hormones. “It was a super great experience,” sums up Attila Ferenc, IT Project Manager. “Not only did we take away motivation, adrenaline and self-confidence, but we were also able to experience community with colleagues outside the company in a completely different way.”
Sports lessons for the HEART project
Of course, every single hour of the ‘Tour de Rieck 2025’ also counts for our virtual sports club “RLG SC” in the Strava app – just like all the other sporting activities of our colleagues. A total of 95 hours were bravely cycled and added to the sports account. They will be converted into euros at the end of the year and donated to our HEART project, Jugendhof Brandenburg.
