Berlin/Neuss, 17. February 2014. Rieck Entsorgungs-Logistik is currently building a new waste and waste paper treatment plant on an 8,000 square meter site at the port of Neuss. The shell of the building is already complete – operations are expected to start on June 1.

Rieck is investing a total of five million euros in the new building. “We are growing year on year and urgently need additional capacity. We are therefore delighted to be able to expand directly opposite our existing site,” says Stefan Rieck, Managing Director of Rieck Entsorgungs-Logistik. “With an ultra-modern channel baling press, which was specially made for us, we will press various types of paper, film and plastics here and feed them for further recycling. Ultimately, everything will become a little more efficient and give us the opportunity to continue to grow in a structured way in the coming years.”

Environmentally friendly processes

The new facility also meets the highest requirements in terms of energy efficiency and noise levels. As many processes take place inside the new hall, Rieck Entsorgungs-Logistik works quietly and with low emissions. Trucks can drive right up to the press, as the hall is 3,000 square meters in size and has an internal height of eleven meters. “Not only the process for recycling the raw materials, but also the plant itself is energy-conscious and environmentally friendly,” emphasizes Stefan Rieck. This is also confirmed by the expert reports he commissioned from TÜV Nord.

Ten new employees

Rieck was able to recruit material flow expert Jürgen Nitsch (49) to manage the plant; he is preparing the commissioning of the new pressing plant. “We actually wanted to be a bit further along, but sometimes things turn out differently than you think. Checking the construction site for bombs and the soil improvement measures for the shell construction took us longer than expected,” explains Jürgen Nitsch. In addition to him, the future press attendant is already a new member of the Rieck Entsorgungs-Logistik team, and the recruitment of eight more employees is planned. They will have plenty to do – the first major orders have already been signed.
