Berlin, April 13, 2018 – The Rieck Logistics Group officially opened its new logistics facility in Berlin-Schönefeld on April 12. The company celebrated the inauguration of the 27,000 square meter property with around 150 guests, including customers, business partners and employees. At the new location, the company previously known as ‘Rieck Projekt Kontrakt Logistik’ now operates under the name ‘Rieck Fulfillment Solutions’.
Rieck had the new contract logistics facility built in the SEGRO Airport Park Berlin. The building complex comprises state-of-the-art warehouse and office space – a total of around 27,000 square meters are available here. Rieck added an additional 6,000 square meters of hall and office space to the 21,000 square meters originally rented just a few months after the start of planning.
“We are delighted that our new location in Berlin is now officially up and running,” says Philipp Strenge, shareholder of the Rieck Logistics Group. “We have thus successfully completed three new construction projects from 2017.” In addition to the logistics center in Berlin, Rieck opened a 23,000 square meter facility near Hamburg a few months ago and expanded the warehouse space at its subsidiary HOMTRANS by an additional 9,000 square meters at the beginning of 2018.
Contract logistics grows
The new building in Berlin-Schönefeld was Rieck’s response to the growth in contract logistics in recent years: “Due to the boom in online trade, customers have increasingly requested our e-commerce solutions,” says Patrick von Oy, Managing Director of Rieck Fulfillment Solutions. The space at the old location in Berlin’s Porschestraße was no longer sufficient for this growth. “Our new property offers over 50 percent more space for B2B and B2C contract logistics projects,” says Patrick von Oy. “We also have the best conditions here to continue growing together with our customers.”
Flexible warehouse
The warehouse layout in the new logistics center in Berlin is flexible. If required, high-bay warehouses can be quickly converted into block storage or picking areas and vice versa. This allows Rieck to quickly adapt its services to current customer requirements. Equipment, technology and IT are also state of the art, while at the same time Rieck has implemented high environmental standards and sustainability aspects. Modern thermal insulation systems and air conditioning ensure pleasant working conditions, an environmentally friendly LED lighting system provides optimum light and the entire hall area is equipped with stable WLAN lighting.
The new Rieck site at SEGRO Airport Park Berlin offers ideal transport links to the highway network, the B 96a federal highway and public transport. The company’s own forwarding facility at the Rieck headquarters in Großbeeren, Brandenburg, is in the immediate vicinity. Shuttle services run between the two locations several times a day.
