Großbeeren near Berlin/Rotterdam, February 27, 2015 – For years they have been working together in the TANDEM Global Network, a cooperation for sea/air transports with over 200 locations in more than 75 countries. With effect from January 1, 2015, the Rieck Logistics Group is now acquiring 34% of the shares in the Dutch partner company TANDEM Global Logistics Netherlands B.V.
TANDEM Global Logistics Netherlands B.V. has its headquarters at the port of Rotterdam and a branch at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Previously, the company operated exclusively for the TANDEM Global Network. It was initiated as a joint venture between the TANDEM co-founders C.H. Powell Company and Azuma Shipping Co. Ltd. The Rieck Logistics Group is now acquiring a third of the shares.
“A sea freight location in Europe’s largest port and a branch at the Schiphol air freight hub create ideal conditions for future growth in international transportation,” says Philipp Strenge, Managing Partner of the Rieck Logistics Group. “With this investment, we are strengthening our international network at two central hubs of world trade.” Rieck already has subsidiaries in St. Petersburg and Mikulov in the Czech Republic as well as the Rieck-Henco joint venture with 16 branches in China.
Perfect partner
“The company is an ideal fit for us,” explains Oliver-Karsten Thormählen, Managing Director of Rieck Sea Air Cargo International GmbH & Co. “There are great synergies due to the comparable business basis and our very similar structure.”
TANDEM Global Logistics Netherlands B.V. has a total of 15 employees and is managed by Joep Stijns. Its services include air and sea freight transportation between Northern and Central Europe and the USA, Japan, China and the Arabian Peninsula.
