Press release: IDS fills last vacant depot area

Published on 01.07.2025

Kleinostheim, July 1, 2025 – With the planned takeover of Agotrans Logistik GmbH in Rodgau by IDS shareholder Geis, the restructuring of the IDS depot areas following DSV’s withdrawal from Germany’s largest general cargo cooperation has been completed. In future, Agotrans will take over the IDS depot area of eastern Rhine-Main under Geis management, thus filling the last of the seven franchise areas left vacant by the DSV-Schenker takeover.

“With the entry of Agotrans in the Rhine-Main region, we are completing the last piece of the puzzle in our network restructuring – and with a strong and reliable partner,” says IDS Managing Director Michael Bargl. “The IDS general cargo network is now future-proof, stable and seamless.”

Geis takes over Agotrans as of July 1, 2025

Agotrans Logistik GmbH has been established as an owner-managed forwarding company in the east of Frankfurt since 1972 and is currently a member of the Online Systemlogistik cooperation. It generated a turnover of EUR 36.7 million in 2024 and employs around 120 people. As part of a share deal, the Geis Group will acquire all shares in Agotrans with effect from July 1, 2025 – subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities. Agotrans Managing Director Dr. Thomas Wernig will remain with the company until mid-2026.

“The Rhine-Main region has long been of strategic interest to us – now we can optimally integrate it into our road network,” says Jochen Geis, Managing Partner of the Geis Group. “At the same time, we are delighted to be responsible for 13 of the 54 IDS depot areas with Agotrans in future.”
